Bank Holiday Bumper Fun

May 26, 2008

This weekend we were joined by one of Victoria’s oldest friends Jenny, and her husband Martin and two children, Jasmine and Dominic.

We all became absolute tourists for the weekend, which included trips to the SeaLife Centre, the pier and even an open top bus ride around town! The weather was fantastic (except for this morning) which was a great surprise.

Candyfloss on the pier

On the pier Callum thoroughly enjoyed the dodgems.

Charlotte got stuck in too.

Callum and Jasmine really did get on incredibly well, not a single fall out all weekend.  But then again, I guess it was not surprising what with Jasmine’s base jumping capabilities!

Return of the Codfish

May 12, 2008
Brighton was boiling hot this weekend so there was plenty of sun block applied to everyone.  Saturday morning we took the Kayak down to the beach early to catch the low tide.

Callum had his first go, which he absolutely loved.  This is what I pictured when we bought it nearly two years ago.

Charlotte watched from the shore.  On Sunday we took the kayak out again and this time Charlotte had a go too!!
We spent the whole day outside and had pizza on the beach for tea.

Charlotte in her hat.

Alfresco Dining

May 8, 2008
It really does feel like summer at the moment, and today the children took full advantage of the warm weather.
The day started with breakfast in the park with Granny…….

……and finished with supper in the garden.  How splendid!

Darkness Descends

May 5, 2008
Charlotte has been sleeping in the top of the house for the last week or so as we took down the blinds in her bedroom in preparation for the arrival of her new curtains from Scotland.
They have arrived and we have not put them up.  You should have seen how delighted Charlotte was to be back in her own bed!!!!

River Dance

May 5, 2008
A beautiful bank holiday Monday today with bright sunshine and high(ish) temperatures.  We met up with Tim and Fiona and their two children Daisy and Sam for a walk and picnic.
Charlotte had fun going in the opposite direction.

The walk runs along the banks of the river Ouse (the one is Sussex, not York!).
The best bit was hiring a boat to paddle up and down.  The mums took the elder two first.
Then the Dads had a go.  We ended up being late back, but luckily we were not charged for the extra time!
Captain Callum………

……was not afraid to roll up his sleeves and led a hand on deck!

GOAL!

May 5, 2008
For Callum’s second birthday we bought him a goal.  On Sunday we put it up for the second time in two years!

Callum has a mean left foot.

No beating daddy this time!

Charlotte get involved.

This picture is a good reminder that daddy should probably stay in goal.
Look at where the ball is, and look at Callum’s face.  Prize to the first person who guesses correctly what happened!!

Pumpkin Update

May 4, 2008
The pumpkins are now enjoying life in the garden.  All good so far – fingers crossed!

Children’s Parade

May 4, 2008
Saturday was the launch of the Brighton Festival. To help get things underway, most of the local schools took part in the Children’s Parade through the streets of Brighton. For their theme Callum’s school went for Morris Dancing!!
Here is the Maypole.

They were asked to wear white (as you can see).  Here Callum and Finlay are marching.

Here’s Vic with Dinah and her daughter Phoebe as well as Shona and Finlay.

Afterwards we had a picnic on the beach.
And the children played.
